2. Results

a) The purpose of our first meeting was to get to know each other and discuss future group activities. The wide array of disciplines represented by the participants - from the fields of history, sociology, literature, pedagogy, anthropology, and political science - reflected AIM's main goal, namely, to further learned research of masculinities in the light of interdisciplinary gender studies.

b) With regard to the group's organization: M. Dinges is in charge of the address list. Everybody interested in joining is requested to contact him (all addresses follow suit). We invite all academics with an interest in researching masculinities in the humanities or social sciences to join the group (please do not forget to pass on your email address).
F. Eder is in charge of creating a mailing list. This list can be used to exchange information on new projects, publications, conferences, stipends and the like.
E. Ründal will provide web-space for an internet-site at his homepage. There, the names of the members will be listed plus their respective research interest and relevant publications (see here).

c) Conferences: The plan is to organize a conference on "homosociality" near the end of 2000 or early in 2001. Specific, exclusive forms of sociability among men or among women and their external effects will serve to advance the conceptualization of men's and gender studies. Projects on research in masculinities can be introduced with poster sessions; this is an invitation especially to graduate students.
This planned conference will be followed by a "State-of-the-Art" conference that will bring together a plethora of approaches to the study of masculinity. All members are invited to host additional events.
